About Device Disposal

Secure electronic destruction and free recycling — based in Minneapolis, serving customers nationwide.

Our Story

Device Disposal exists for one reason: most e-waste services are either expensive, opaque, or both — and the small businesses, healthcare practices, and individuals who need them most get the worst deal.

We built Device Disposal on a simple premise: secure electronic destruction shouldn't cost a fortune, and recycling everyday devices should be free. We offer transparent flat-rate pricing per device type, prepaid shipping labels so you never pay to send your old electronics in, and a Certificate of Destruction once processing is confirmed.

How it works: Device Disposal is a coordination service. We handle intake, logging, chain-of-custody, and customer communication. The actual physical destruction is performed by our R2 (Responsible Recycling) certified partner facility, which follows NIST 800-88 destruction standards — the federal benchmark for media sanitization. We require domestic-only processing, so nothing ends up in informal overseas recycling chains.

Free recycling is available for phones, tablets, laptops, Macs, and smartwatches — we email you a prepaid label or QR code, you ship it in, and that's it. Everything else, we'll route for secure destruction at our certified partner facility for a flat fee.

How We Stay Accountable

R2-Certified Partners

All physical destruction and recycling is performed by R2 (Responsible Recycling) certified partner facilities — the industry's leading certification for e-waste processing.

NIST 800-88 Destruction

We require the "Destroy" method — physical shredding and degaussing that meets the federal benchmark for media sanitization. No soft-delete, no overwrite-only.

Chain-of-Custody Docs

Every device is logged from our intake to the partner facility. Your Certificate of Destruction includes the full chain-of-custody trail — suitable for HIPAA, SOX, FACTA, and GLBA audits.

How Destruction Works

1. Order online. Pick your devices, see your total in real time. Volume discounts apply automatically at 5, 10, and 25+ items.

2. Ship for free. We email you a prepaid shipping label or QR code. Pack your devices, drop at any FedEx or UPS store — they can even print from the QR code for you.

3. Intake & chain-of-custody. On arrival, devices are logged by description and serial number (where legible), tagged with your order ID, and routed to our R2-certified destruction partner.

4. You get your Certificate. Once partner-facility destruction is confirmed, your Certificate of Destruction is emailed to you — includes device descriptions, serial numbers, destruction method, date, partner facility, and chain-of-custody log.
